To specify Stop Loss or Take Profit level, click the up or down arrow to fill in the current price and and adjust it to your Stop Loss or Take Profit price.

As soon as the position has been opened, it will appear in the Trade tab.

MT4 also allows you to open and close positions with one click. To enable One-Click trading, select 'Options' from the 'Tools' menu. In the Options window, open the Trade tab, tick 'One- Click Trading' and click OK to apply the changes.

With one-click trading you can perform trading operations on the chart. To enable One-Click Trading panel right click the chart and tick One-Click-Trading in the context menu. The panel can be used to place market orders with specified volumes.

You can also place a pending order from Trading submenu of the chart's context menu. Right click on the necessary price level on the chart and select the type of pending order you would like to open. Available pending order types at this price level will be displayed in the menu.

To set up a Trailing Stop on MT4 follow the below-mentioned steps :

1. Right-click on the open order in the Trade tab.

2. Select Trailing Stop.

3. Select the number of points you would like to have the Stop Loss trail your price.

Don’t forget :

  • The Trailing Stop cannot be set less than the stop level.
  • The minimum trailing stop amount that can be set will depend on the stop level pips for each particular instrument, as shown in the Contract Specifications.
  • A trailing stop can never be set less than 15 points in MT4 due to limitations on that trading terminal.
  • The Trailing Stop will start working only after the order has started moving in a profitable direction by the exact number of points the Trailing Stop is set at.
  • Each time a Trailing Stop modifies the Stop Loss, it will be recorded in the journal tab.
  • Trailing Stop can be set up irrespective of whether, or not a Stop Loss was set initially.

By definition, a Pip is the basic unit of measurement of price differences, while a Point is the minimum amount of price change.

A Pip Size is a number that indicates the placement of the Pip in a price. For most currency pairs it is a standard value of 0.0001.

For example, the Pip Size for EURUSD is 0.0001. This means that if we look at the price of EURUSD at any given point in time, the 4th place after the decimal point is the Pip. Thus, the Point is the 5th place.

There are currency pairs that have a Pip Size of 0.01, for example, XAUUSD. This means that for XAUUSD, the Pip is the second digit after the decimal point, and Point the third.

Pip Size is a very important tool in various calculations, the most common one being spread.

After you have set up a Trailing Stop, you can also modify it. Better still, you can remove it if you don’t wish to use it. Let us find out how :

To modify :

1. Right-click on the open order in the Trade tab.

2. Select Trailing Stop.

3. Select the number of points you would like to change the Trailing Stop from the given options. You may also choose Custom and set up your preferred value.

That’s it. Your Trailing Stop has now been modified.

To remove :

1. Right-click on the open order in the Trade tab.

2. Select Trailing Stop.

3. Select None.

The trading hours of most instruments offered are completely closed during weekends so it is not possible to trade.

Cryptocurrencies are an instrument group offered that continues to be traded on weekends. This means it is possible to trade during the weekend but only instruments from the Cryptocurrencies group.

If you are trying to close a trade during weekend hours, it will fail to close until the market reopens; please follow the Forex trading hours, to find out when is best to close trades.

There is also a possibility that either a visual bug or connectivity issues have caused it to look as if a trade will not close but in actuality, the trade has closed.

Please close your terminal completely, then reopen it and see if the trade is still active.

Another possibility is that One-Click Trading is not active, in which case a confirmation window would’ve appeared when attempting to close the trade. Choosing to turn it on when prompted still would not have closed the order, so you will need to again close the trade after turning this feature on.

If you are still experiencing issues closing the trade, please contact Support with your information on hand, and we may be able to assist you further.

There are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to correct a “no connection” error :

Check your DNS settings : if there is a particular DNS set, instead of your operating system’s default, there is a possibility of it returning this error.

Check your IP settings : whether temporarily or otherwise, an IP unable to connect to the internet will return a “no connection” error; run your internet speed test to see if the issue lies with the VPS or your IP generally.

To solve both DNS and IP settings :

For Windows 10

1. Open the Start Menu, then type Network Connections.

2. Choose your main network, then right-click and select Properties.

3. Click on the option Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4), and then select Properties.

4. Ensure that “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain DNS server address automatically” are selected.

These steps may vary depending on your operating system.

Verify your trading password: if a trading account password is incorrect, it will return a “no connection” error when using the trading terminal. Double-check that this is being input correctly.

If the error persists don’t hesitate to contact Support for further assistance, as a specialist can be assigned to help.

If you have recently started trading, you might be seeing a lot of new terms that appear confusing. We’ll explain more about the terms margin and free margin in this short article.

Margin is the amount of funds in account currency that is held by a broker for keeping an order open. The remaining amount of equity in your account is known as free margin.

Points to remember :

1. Free margin denoted in your trading platform indicates the amount of funds available to open new trades, while margin denotes the amount held for the trades that are already open.

2. Margin of your trades is used for margin level calculation and directly affects when your account reaches margin call. Free margin does not affect margin call.

3. The free margin available in your Personal Area is available for withdrawal. The funds held as margin cannot be withdrawn while trades are open.

4. The sum total of both margin and free margin at any given time is known as Equity.
